MY VISA EXPERIENCE (Old Dominion University)

hi frnds,

i m one of the most silent members of the group...i feel tht this is
the best time for me to talk... my visa interview was on july 7 at
1.45 p.m at the chennai consulate...

i reported at the entrance at 1.00 p.m. and was asked to go back and
report at 1.30 i did the same and was allowed inside after checkin my
documents i was asked to stand in the line i stood there for about 45
mins(in the first building) then was asked to go into the second
buildin where i was made to sit for another 30 mins bfore being sent
for the finger prints....after the finger prints were taken i was
agian made to sit

i observed that ppl whose interview time was 12:30 were being called
for the interviews...so i had to wait for some more time.......and
then i was asked to sit in another place from where i could see the
interviews taking place and hear the questions being asked but with a
little difficulty....

i noticed tht a lady was rejecting visas at the drop of the hat and so
were the others..... i observed a few interviews very closely and came
to knw tht they were being rejected on account of less gre score, poor
aggregate and sometimes even fake bank docs...

i was made to stand in a line for which a lady who was like a
hollywood actress was takin interviews...she rejected two persons
bfore me...one H1 and another F1...finally it was my turn...and here
is my interview......

My profile: GRE:1230
TOEFL:287
ACADS:

Btech: 68%(no backlogs)
intermediate : 89.3
tenth:78.5 (ICSE)

a few paper presentations

ME: good after noon ma'am (with smiling face)
Vo: good afternoon

ME: How ru ma'am?
VO: fine thank u wht abt u??

Me : fine ma'am, thank u and passed the maroon colored folder...

VO: How many unveristies did u apply to??
ME: 6 including Old Dominion University

VO: Why this university?
ME: ma'am i hv a few very strong points in favour of selecting this
university and if u gimme a momment i would like to show it to u...wht
i have researched

VO: sure show me..
ME: took out the pofiles of a few professors doin reserach in
Networking and started talking and talkin and talkin and ended up
somewhere in network security the topic on which i was fairly
acquainted with

VO: tell me something about network security...
ME: ma'am should i start of with the definition of cryptography or .....

VO: i know a little bit of cryptography
ME:(I knew it was fake) and started to take abt cryptography though
not very much but i was sure she didnt understand even a bit of it as
i had used hi-funda terms...

VO: ok thank u very much now please show me ur mark sheets and gre and
toefl score cards..
ME: passed them

VO: please pass ur CA certificate
ME: passed...

VO: (lookin at the CA certifcate) wht is ur father
ME:told

VO: ok sir ur VISA has been approved and will be couriered
ME:thank u ma'am(without lettin her complete the entrie sentence)

VO:thank you

well frnds my advice:

1. Always talk something different than wht the others are
talkin.....i heard scores of ppl say tht netowrkin had a good future
and thts y they were optin for it....well r we fortune tellers to
predict the future ??...for questions like these please talk abt the
research facilities and abt ur area of interest......

2. I heard a lot of ppl sayin tht they were optin for a particular
university bcoz the professors were good........if we r in a position
to rate them then y study under them???,.....for question pertainig to
univ selection please talk abt the research work tht the profs are
doin and show how interested ur to work with them.....

3. Many ppl have fake financial docs......its an open secret...which
was accepted by mike (head of the consulate) himself.....please make
sure tht even if carry fake docs try to drag the VO to ur subject of
interest....never ever feel nervous or perturbed when he asks for ur
financial doc...tht itself s a clue for them......i saw many ppl who
were given form 212 (they can never enter the US as a student)...so
plz b careful with the financial statement.....always say tht u paid
abt 6000rs for the CA statement and not 600-1000......bcoz its a very
costly affair........and since almost all of us approach a consultancy
for the financial documentation we r not aware of all this.....
