Hi!!!

I am B.Mallikharjuna Reddy from Vizag and I got my Visa issued on 15th july 2006 at US Consulate Chennai.I am leaving to The University of Texas at Arlington for my PhD in Chemistry on Aug 12.

My Visa interview went pretty cool....

After finger printing at counter no 8 I was directed to go to Counter no 7 where a lady officer of middle age( looks like actress in The Mummy Returns) was taking the interview.

Before me 2 applicants one F1 and J1 .F1 applicant got rejected.and its my turn now....

I was about to move, she lifted her hand asked me to wait for a while and called 3 previously interviewed applicants(whose decisions were withheld).With a smile on my face not crossing the yellow line I waited almost 15 min patiently for her call.
At last she called me......
VO:So finally ur turn....
Me: Very Good Morning Officer !!!How are u doing?

VO:Give me ur TOFEL/GRE scores and memos?
ME:I gave them.
(This is against to my expectations like why US?Why this univ?)

VO:You got Assistanship?
Me:Yes mam

VO:Congratulations!

!!!!
ME Thank You mam.

VO:Have you done any proj?
ME:Yes during my M.Tech at IIT Delhi(Confidently and smiling)

VO:Tell me about ur proj?
ME:Told her
She typed some thing on computer......
VO:what were u doing with Dr.Reddy Labs (I dont have any work experience)?
ME:Associated as Analytical Chemist and was working on Drug molecules.
VO:What type of Drugs?
ME:Anti Cancer drugs.

VO:I am issuing you Visa.Enjoy ur stay in US.
ME Thank You mam.

ME When can I collect my VISA?
VO:It will be delivered to ur home within 3 days.

ME:Thank You very much Mam...

My suggestion to those who are going to attend F1 visa interview:

1)Have abundant patience.
2)Have a Smile(This eases tension within u and in addition gives VO a good impression on U)
3)Just think positively and while talking to VO get a feeling that u r explaining /convincing one of ur friend or unknown foreigner who wants some info regarding u ,ur study plans in US etc...
4)I honestly feel one shouldnt be carried away by the negative experiences/views of others because there "The Ball is in Your Court" and Every ones case is different form others.So to get visa issued, u should have firm control over the Ball before ur opponant snatches it away from u.

Got Visa for MBA in University of bridgeport

this is arvind reddy from hyderabd......... i got my visa on 20th july at delhi consulate...... my profile is as below......

im going to university of bridgeport for MBA......my intrviw was taken by a cute amrican lady around mid 30's at counter no 8.

my interview was like a cake walk for me......... and it was over in 1 minute i think....... interview was like this ....

ME: good morning mam.....
VO: no reply at all...... straight away she asked me for GRE and TOEFL score cards please.....

ME: i gave my TOEFL and said loudly mam mines is GMAT and not GRE.....
VO: looked at me and said ahaaaa..... ok give me ur GMAT score card.....

ME: i said "mam my university waived me GMAT since i got first class marks in my UG and also my TOEFL is very good and hence my univ gave me admission.....
VO: again said ahaaaa....... ok give me ur UG marksheets.....
ME: i gave them..... she counted my mark sheets and looked at my provisional certificate..... and looked my marks in consolidated memo for all the three years and checked carefully the consolidated memo........ looked at me and gave a smile..... and returned my mark sheets....

VO: typed something in the computer ..... and while she was typing she asked me what is ur fathr and what does he do??
ME: said....... but she was not listening at all.......

VO: can i see ur acceptence letter frm the university??
ME: sure mam..... and gave them..... she gone through them and checked whether they are original or not........

VO: then the golden words came " you are the first person to whome im issuing the visa for the university of bridgeport"(with a smile)
ME: I gave a big smile and said thank u mam.......

VO: immediatly she was serious again and said....... " im issuing u the visa bcoz u seems to be a very good student..... and u need to work hard and be succesfull in ur life...."
ME: i said thank u mam ill definetly work hard become successfull in my life....

VO: ok ull recieve ur passport in 2-3 days.....have a nice day...(with a smile again)
ME: thank u mam..... have a nice day(with a big smile)

Im not a very good student.a commerse graduate with 57% and my toefl (CBT) 220.going for PRE-MBA 2 UNIVERSITY OF DALLAS

VO : HELLO SIR,HOW R U?
ME : HI MAM,M FINE,HOW ABOUT U?

VO : ME FINE TOO,SO WHAT COURSE ARE YOU GOING FOR ?
ME : MBA MAM

(VO & ME SIMULTANIOUSLY)

VO : SHOW ME UR TOEFL N GRE ?
ME : MAAM,CAN U SPEAK A LITTLE LOUDER?, IM NOT ABLE TO HEAR U PROPERLY.( loud & clear )

VO : I HAVE A BAD THROD,CANT B ANY LOUDER THAN THIS.
ME : OOHH...ITS OK OFFICER.

VO : OK,SHOW ME UR DEGREE CERTIFICATES( forgot abt the gre and toefl,BUT I ASKED HER,U WANT MY TOEFL & SHE SAID,NO... ITS OK NOW )

ME : SHOWED MY MARKS SHEET INSTEAD...she checked thm n agn asked 4 my degree certificate.

i showed it to her n she checked IT with the machine under her desk n returned thm.BUT B4 RETURNING...

ME : MAAM , M NT ABLE 2 GET IT AT ALL !!

I attended my visa interview on july 21 st 3 o clck slot.......

frnds my sincereadvice pls go to the consulate only bf4 fifteen min....
abt 2.45 i was allowed inside... the security inside glass cabin cheked my appntmtnt ltr and passport... then i went inside securites were checking the harmioum folder. after tat i was asked to stand in one counter, an indian auditor chked my ds forms.. all documents.. and finally they gave me a folder.

i went inside the visa lobby.... they took my finger prints...
afte tat i was asked to wait... frnds.... pls watch each and every countr carefully...

. watch the vo's carefully.....

at abt 4.30 i was asked to stand in line... pls have a smiling face and don show ur fear outside... and have eye contact with vo... she called me

me- great maam.. how are you today(smiling)

vo- good... wat is ur percentage
me- 81%

vo- any backlogs
me- two

vo wat is r father
me- rsm in -----------

i ran colting all my documnts frm her ad ran outside .... my father was waiting outside.... i waved a thumbs up signal .. father was sooooo happy.


no questions abt univ . spl, no ca stmt, nothing....

i wud never say don take anything with u.. take everything with u. before me two of them got rejected... one of them was for fraud bnk stmt.... she verfied then rejected.... one girl was pleading with vo.. saying tat she was mislead by consultancy...

my advice is take legitimate documents....

have eye contact... wear nice dress.. be confident...

for all visa aspirants... don worry abt the muslim vo and any other vo... be confident greet visa officer boldly..... all the best for all visa aspirants

Hi to one & all,

This is Rakesh Chitturi from Andhra pradesh. I got my visa on july 19th for Tennessee tech univ for MS in mech engg. This is my 3rd attempt (rejected twice in spring) & I got through this time successfully. Here is my experience.

My profile: GRE: 1070 (V-300, AWA-3), TOEFL: 253, ACADS: 65% (1 backlog)

VO is a young lady who has her hair spread out.

VO: hi sir
Me: good afternoon mam.

VO: good afternoon.

VO: which univ?
Me: Tennessee tech univ.

VO: which subject?
Me: Mech engg with a specialization in thermal engg.

VO: why thermal?
Me: Thermal engg is one of the very core subjects in my undergraduation & I had come across subjects like heat transfer, IC engines, fluid mechanics. I am impressed by the basics of these subjects & moreover the project which I had done in my undergraduation comes under this specialization which had triggered my interest further. Hence I chose thermal.

VO: Whats ur project?
Me: The title of my project is "Thermodynamic study & performance of combined cycle power plants".

VO: So u want to continue research in this field?
Me: Yes mam.

VO: give ur undergraduation certificates
Me: gave

VO: what r ur parents?
Me: My father is an engineer in APHMEL which is a state govt organisation & my mother is a superintendent in post office.

VO: So both of ur parents r govt employees?
Me: Yes mam.

VO: How r u going to fund ur studies?
Me: My parents r going to sponsor my education. My parents had deposited
xxx lakhs in my account so far & my parents annual income is xxx lakhs.

VO: What r u doing for the past one year?
Me: For the first 6 months after my undergraduation, I was involved in the process of taking GRE & TOEFL and applying for univs for spring. But unfortunately my visa got rejected twice for spring. After that I worked as a lecturer from FEB to MAY.

VO: which subject did u teach?
Me: Fuid mechanics.

VO: why did u change ur univ?
Me: Tennessee tech univ has always been my top priority but this univ makes decisions very late. As a result I got the I-20 from the univ after 2 rejects for visa. Now I had waited for this univ's I-20 & reapplied.

VO: everything looks fine & u will get ur passport in 2 to 3 days.
Me: Thank u mam & u made my day.

My interview might appear longer seeing the experience I had posted. But I guess its no more than 3 mins.

To be honest I am not that confident even when I am waiting in the que to face the interview. But I didnt panic. I spoke well infront of the VO & acted as if I am 100% confident. She did have a glance at me for about 3 times. I maintained eye contact with the VO through out the interview although she didnt look at me most of the time. I prepared well for the interview. The mock interviews which I had taken had helped me a lot.

Luck played its part in my case to an extent as I was not asked for any documents other than my undergraduation certificates, I was not asked ques like why I was rejected twice for spring. But I feel I got the visa for the effort I have put in for the whole process. My advice is dont get dejected if ur visa gets rejected as the hardwork u have done will go nowhere & will help u in one way or the other for sure. I had experienced it myself & saw some of my friends whose effort paid off although their profile is not that good.

I want to make a request to the members of the group. Please dont put blah, blah... when posting ur experiences for important ques like why this specialization, why this univ etc.

I had my appointment on 10th July at 7:45 AM. I got into the queue for my interview at 9:30 AM. The VO was a beautiful fair lady(blonde) of age 25 - 30.

My profile is :
Branch : Chemical Engineering
Going for MS in Petroleum Engineering
Percentage : 75.29
GRE : 1280
TOEFL : 270
Backlogs : 2

The interview was very short and went this way :-

ME : Gudmorning mam, how are u duing?
VO : Fine. How about u?
ME : I am fine.
VO : ............

...university?(I didn't get the first few words, so thought she was asking abt the university)
ME : University of Oklahoma, Norman.
VO : Oh! Petroleum Engineering???/
ME : Yes mam.
VO : I think you have full aid.
ME : No mam, I have to pay $3000 for the first year.
VO : Even that is good!!!
ME : Thanks mam.
VO : So are you going to work there?
ME : I have better opportunities here mam, especially in my home state of Andhra Pradesh..
VO : Ok...give me your marksheets..
ME : Here they are..
VO : (counted the memos and looked at the percentage)You have good academic record...
ME : Thanks mam.
VO : Then she went in and searched for something, took some printed paper and returned. She went through it for some time. Again looked at my marksheets and said ...YOU'LL RECEIVE YOUR VISA IN A WEEK.
ME : Thank you mam, have a nice day.
VO : Ok bye..

So it was simple guys..just be confident...and give short replies..
